A nostalgic, slow-burn gregorian chant night.
Center, Leof. Andrea Siggrou 364, Kallithea 176 74, Greece
The Byzantine Music Days festival concludes with a dedicated evening exploring the ritual atmosphere of the Mount Athos all-night vigil. This event highlights the mystical experience of worship where psaltic art is inextricably linked to nighttime prayer and silence. The performance features choral melismatic developments and melodious solo performances, transporting the audience into a deeply experiential tradition shaped over centuries within Mount Athos monasteries. Curated by Zaharias Karounis, the program presents a polyphonic tableau of modern-day psaltic art, bridging historical psaltic schools with contemporary approaches.
