The Orchestre de Paris, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, presents a programme featuring the French premiere of Gabriella Smith's oceanic work Tumblebird Contrails, dedicated to Jack Kerouac. Acclaimed pianist Bertrand Chamayou joins the ensemble to perform both of Maurice Ravel's piano concertos: the dark, jazz-influenced Concerto for the Left Hand and the Gershwin-inspired Concerto in G major. The evening concludes with Béla Bartók's masterful Concerto for Orchestra, a modern symphonic tour de force that highlights every section of the orchestra.
