A nostalgic classical night.
Klaus Mäkelä, a frequent guest at the Philharmonie and a rising star among conductors, leads the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 7. This work, often referred to as the "Song of the Night," is celebrated for its modern language and evocative movements, ranging from grandiose opening and closing sections to the chiaroscuro of its central nocturnes. Mäkelä, who began a long-term partnership with the orchestra in 2022 and will become its chief conductor in 2027, continues the ensemble's storied Mahler tradition with this interpretation.
