An underground contemporary jazz night.
Oud player and composer Mehmet Polat brings his quartet to Lab Grounds for an evening where jazz meets musical traditions from Eastern Europe, Asia, the Balkans and the Mediterranean. The ensemble combines Polat’s oud with piano, double bass and drums, creating deep grooves and complex rhythms that support melodic conversation. Special guests Flip Noorman and Vera van der Bie join the quartet in Rotterdam. Noorman is a singer and theatre-maker known for his raw vocal style and acclaimed stage productions. Violinist and vocalist Van der Bie moves between classical music, pop and theatre. Together, they create an intimate concert where jazz, poetry, theatre, improvisation and global musical traditions meet.
