An underground choral night.
A Late-Night Prom celebrating the 90th birthday of Steve Reich. The performance contrasts vivid 20th-century percussion-and-voice rhythms with ancient choral meditations. The Gesualdo Six and the Colin Currie Group perform works by Renaissance composers Hildegard of Bingen, Machaut, Josquin, and Pérotin alongside Reich’s ecstatic and moving setting of Hebrew Psalms, Tehillim.
