An ensemble, moving science fiction.
Vandaag geen speeltijden voor Star Trek III: The Search for Spock in Los Angeles.

Kirk and crew stealing the Enterprise is one of my favorite sequences in this, or any, franchise.I’ve always admired the catatonic depressive atmosphere lingering throughout The Search for Spock… the opening Captains Log, how empty Kirk is and his collapse after a certain event happens, that shot of everyone looking at him while his chair is turned to the camera with his head down and outstretched arm clutching Bones, and the moment he has to relive Spock’s death via the mindmeld with Sarek… pure misery… a total mood stricken with grief… plus that damm self destruct scene—I still gasp when the ships call numbers start to incinerate leading up to the moment we see each crew member—and finally Kirk—looking on as the Destroyed ship soars across the sky burning up in the atmosphere. All of this coming after the gut wrenchingly depressing and emotionally draining ending of Star Trek II is heavy stuff for sure but it’s the perfect setup for the joy that is STAR TREK IV and god damn I love it.I’ve heard this described as a throwaway movie and that’s one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard, this is far from that and besides looking awesome, it explores the effects of the previous film and friendship/loss in ways most movies designed to handle those topics fail at. Inshallah they find him
Admiral James T. Kirk defies Starfleet orders to steal the U.S.S. Enterprise and return to the Genesis planet to recover the body of his close friend, Spock.
The film was directed by Leonard Nimoy, who also stars as Spock, marking his feature film directorial debut in 1984.
While it did not win major competitive industry awards like Academy Awards, it remains a recognized and studied entry in the science fiction franchise.
