Nadat ze met hun schip door een mysterieuze storm overvallen worden, moeten de PAW Patrol-pups een noodlanding maken op een nog onontdekt tropisch eiland vol dinosaurussen. Daar ontmoeten ze Rex, een pup die jaren geleden gestrand is op het eiland en inmiddels een expert is in alles wat met dino’s te maken heeft. Als hun grote rivaal burgemeester Humdinger de natuurlijke grondstoffen op het eiland wil gaan delven, wekt hij per ongeluk een enorme slapende vulkaan. Door de uitbarsting komen de PAW Patrol-pups voor een reddingsactie van dino-formaat te staan en ze zullen Humdinger moeten tegenhouden, voordat alles op het eiland uitsterft.
