secretly the best-looking movie ever
Wow this was great! A film that's been in my watchlist forever and I'm glad I finally checked it out. A solid atmospheric 80s horror film with a lot going for it. Creepy setting, great performances and one of the best scores I've heard in awhile! I was hooked right from the start with that bleak opening scene of all the dead college girls shoved together in the closet. Then we have an awesome panning camera shot that travels through a maseloum while an awesomely creepy song plays. I thought I was watching a long lost Phantasm sequel! I already mentioned atmosphere but this is a perfect example of a well done slow burner. This film slowly pulls you along and builds up the suspense and terror one scene at a time. I never lost interest as we are treated to shots of 80s arcades, graveyards, the ever expanding maseloum and the lonely streets on an autumn day. The score perfectly elevated every scene by accompanying each moment with a mix of subtle and memorable sounds. 80s synths, 70s sounding rock, suspenseful intrusmentals - it really showcased a bit of everything. I'm a sucker for a good score and combined with the thick atmosphere this delivered a one of a kind experience. It somehow felt nostalgic even though I had never seen this movie. Now that's a solid vibe if I've ever experienced one. Every good slow burner has an epic finale and this was no exception. The final half hour is a fun thrill ride through terrifying visuals, awesome practical FX and enough supernatural mayhem to please any die hard fan of wacky 80s horror. Plus lots of dem blue electricity bolts I love so much! If you are looking for a perfect film to match the autumn and Halloween vibes this one is a great choice!
This was a pretty ok movie kinda expected more from it. The biggest negative that i have is that it took way too long for the story to get good and for things to happen, but when it did it was good but unfortunately it was almost the end of the movie. The acting was good Meg Tilly did such an amazing job in this role, the set design was good i liked that a lot. Overall it's not the best movie so i don't know if i would suggest it to a lot of people. It's on youtube.
