Dinosaur Jr. is one of the most influential alternative rock bands to come out of the 80s. Formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984, the group created a signature noise rock style characterized by J Mascis's melodic guitar shredding and heavy use of distortion played at extreme volumes. The original lineup, featuring Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph, reunited in 2005 and has since continued to release critically praised albums like Beyond, Farm, and I Bet on Sky. Their intense performances and eclectic influences from Black Sabbath to Neil Young have left a lasting mark on the indie rock landscape. Supporting them is Stef Chura, an indie artist with a growing presence in the rock scene. Dinosaur Jr. remains a cornerstone of American underground music, known for their powerful shifts in dynamics and DIY ethics.
