A raw classical night.
In this performance, Klaus Mäkelä conducts the Orchestre de Paris in a program that bridges the works of William Walton and Johannes Brahms. The evening features French violist Antoine Tamestit as the soloist for Walton's Viola Concerto, a piece Tamestit describes as both difficult and magnificent, requiring a deep understanding of the instrument's sound world. Complementing the concerto are two masterpieces from Brahms' maturity: the Tragic Overture and Symphony No. 3. The symphony, which was met with great acclaim upon its debut, carries the flamboyant character of a Nordic ballad.
