A nostalgic classical night.
Emmanuel Pahud performs Nielsen's rare flute concerto alongside Schubert's majestic Symphony No. 9, known as "The Great". The programme opens with Justė Janulytė's Confluere, a work dedicated to conductor Kristiina Poska that explores textures of sonic streaming. Schubert's symphony, discovered by Schumann years after its composition, is celebrated for its radiant proportions and divine lengths, while Nielsen's concerto offers a whimsical, childlike innocence through the flute's melodic lines.
