Gustavo Dudamel directs the New York Philharmonic in a programme highlighting Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony. This work, created in the final months of World War II, was conceived as a glorification of the human soul and free spirit. The concert also features the French premiere of a new work by Zosha Di Castri, commissioned by the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, and John Adams’ On the Transmigration of Souls, a tribute to the victims of September 11, performed alongside the Orfeó Català choir.
