Brightwork newmusic Performs Game-Inspired Chamber Music
An underground contemporary classical night.
Brightwork newmusic, known for their innovative chamber music that blends pop and avant-garde influences, returns with "New Music Game Night!". This eclectic program features game-inspired compositions, ranging from Cristina Lord’s interactive piece based on Kafka’s Metamorphosis to Isaac Schankler’s polyrhythm-based game, The Six-Body Problem. The evening also includes works by Los Angeles composers Siobhán Dougall and Richard An. The ensemble, formed in 2013 and led by Artistic Director Aron Kallay, consists of a sextet focusing on contemporary classical music. The performance invites audience members to participate by voting on musical paths or competing in live games on stage. Brightwork newmusic is dedicated to revitalizing the art form through commissions and premieres of works by living composers.
