Alexandre Kantorow takes on the challenge of Bartók's formidable Piano Concerto No. 2. As a counterpoint, the rich melodic invention of Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 distills a deeply interior light. Few soloists dare to measure themselves against Bartók's second concerto, a work as famous for its immense rhythmic difficulties as for the haunting atmosphere of its slow movement. The program also features Bruckner's 7th Symphony, completed in 1883, whose Adagio serves as a grandiose elegy to Richard Wagner.
