A nostalgic, underground jazz night.
The Blakettes, known as the Art Blakey Women’s Band, celebrate the founding fathers and mothers of Hard Bop through an energetic and romantic performance. Drawing from a vast catalog of exceptional composers, arrangers, and performers, the ensemble revisits and cooks up a rich and immortal repertoire. They invite audiences on a journey to the heart of 1960s jazz, paying passionate tribute to creators such as Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons, McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton, and Pharoah Sanders.
