Each year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria, Arizona explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 residents for the annual Spring Break celebration. But then, an earthquake opens an underwater chasm, releasing an enormous swarm of ancient Piranha that have been dormant for thousands of years, now with a taste for human flesh. This year, there's something more to worry about than the usual hangovers and complaints from locals, a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria.

85Featuring Jerry O'Connell as a softcore porn director, Ving Rhames as a shotgun-wielding sheriff, and Christopher Lloyd as a master scientist with a specialty in piranhas. Totally bananas, standing tall over overt 'bad-movie' parody and flying right in the face of overt comedic digressions. This movie is hilarious and batshit, but never against the film's own wishes, and definitely not in defiance of the film's supreme craft. The final act is full of bursting jugulars in balletic motion, and the tension is immense. And for the blood-red cherry on top, Greg Nicotero's effects are gnarly and vicious in ways that hardly any gorefest has topped in this decade. So many skeletons with their eyeballs intact. Iconic.
