For twenty years, the Garifuna Collective has been an authority on the preservation and further development of the rich cultural heritage of the Garifuna, an Afro-diasporic community in Belize, Central America. The collective has played at major music festivals around the world and received prizes such as the BBC World Music Award. To celebrate their twentieth anniversary, the Garifuna Collective is now on a world tour. They represent the descendants of African people who preserved their unique language, music, and culture, now recognized by UNESCO. This performance is part of the Sonic Pluriverse Festival: Global Echoes of Gnawa.
