A nostalgic classical night.
Royal Festival Hall, 337-338 Belvedere Rd, London SE1 8XU, UK
In the early 20th-century city of Freud and Klimt, music and desire became inseparable. This programme explores the glitter and emotional surge of the era's fantasy-inspired works. Zemlinsky’s symphonic fantasia The Mermaid, born from unrequited love, leads a journey through obsession and nostalgia alongside Schreker’s evocative Nachtstück. The evening also features Korngold’s glowing Violin Concerto, a work of cinematic longing composed as he established his legacy in Hollywood. Edward Gardner and violinist Bomsori Kim bring these interconnected Viennese dreams to life.
