Red Hook Records celebrates its fifth anniversary with a showcase of artists from its roster. The evening features two sets: a solo performance by pianist and composer Amina Claudine Myers, followed by a collaborative set from drummer Andrew Cyrille, trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith, and modular synthesist Qasim Naqvi. Amina Claudine Myers is a pioneering NEA Jazz Master whose work spans jazz, blues, and gospel. Andrew Cyrille is a rhythmically innovative drummer known for his groundbreaking work in modern jazz. Wadada Leo Smith is a heralded trumpeter and composer focused on spiritual harmony in creative music. Qasim Naqvi, drummer of Dawn of Midi, is an accomplished solo artist bridging modular synthesis and improvisation.
