SOW at Ijzerstaven presents: memotone
Nestled in a quiet corner of Amsterdam’s Jordaan neighborhood, the Bickersgracht is mostly known as an oasis of peace and shade in the summer months. But beyond its tranquil charm, it is also home to Salon de Ijzerstaven, a one-of-a-kind metal art workshop that has served as the studio of visual artist Egon Schrama for the past 40 years. Thanks to our good friends at Vereniging van Horen Zeggen, we discovered this remarkable venue and have been dreaming of hosting a show here ever since. Now we are very excited to announce the launch of SOW at Ijzerstaven, a new series of listening concerts taking place in this inspiring space. For our very first edition, we’ve invited UK artist memotone for a live performance. In this intimate setting, memotone will present music from his latest LPs alongside previously released works and new, improvised material. His live show is a fusion of prepared compositions and spontaneous sequences, drawing from jazz, ambient, folk, and fourth-world influences to construct his singular sonic world. memotone has released music on labels such as The Trilogy Tapes, Soda Gong, Sahko Recordings, Discrepant, Accidental Meetings, 12th Isle, Patience/Impatience, and Folklore Tapes.
