A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
Cellist Sol Gabetta joins pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout for a program focused on mid-19th-century Romantic works. The recital features Felix Mendelssohn’s Cello Sonata No. 1 alongside several of his Songs without Words. The duo also performs Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, a poetic set of pieces originally for clarinet, and concludes with the lyrical dialogue of Johannes Brahms’s Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor.
