A raw, nostalgic contemporary classical night.
Thierry Escaich and percussionist Joël Grare perform a live musical accompaniment to Fritz Lang's science-fiction masterpiece, Metropolis. Escaich, a regular at the Philharmonie, shares his musical vision of the futuristic city, navigating the film's themes of man vs. machine and class struggle through a narrative structure of Prelude, Interlude, and Furioso. The performance offers an original take on the architectural and cinematic lines of Lang's imaginary world.
