Semyon Bychkov enters the wild, wonderful dreamworld of the mighty Seventh Symphony. Gustav Mahler famously stated that a symphony should embrace the whole world. In his Seventh Symphony, he fulfills this ambition, guiding listeners through a landscape that ranges from mountain lakes to celestial trumpet fanfares. Known as the 'song of the night,' the piece features distant bugles, cowbells, and moonlit serenades. Semyon Bychkov, a renowned Mahler specialist and holder of the BBC Symphony Orchestra’s Günter Wand Conducting Chair, leads the orchestra through every nuanced detail and atmospheric shift of this symphonic journey.
