An underground, homegrown jazz night.
Pianist and composer David Virelles brings his syncretic musical vision to the stage, joined by bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Eric McPherson. Growing up in Santiago de Cuba and later developing his craft in Toronto and New York, Virelles' work organically bridges Cuban folkloric traditions with contemporary improvisational worlds. A Steinway artist and Guggenheim Fellow, Virelles has collaborated with jazz legends such as Henry Threadgill, Ravi Coltrane, and Andrew Cyrille. His acclaimed discography includes projects on ECM and Pi Recordings, exploring everything from solo piano settings to electronic EPs and celebrations of Santiago de Cuba's musical history.
