A raw classical night.
To celebrate John Adams' 80th birthday, British conductor Sir Simon Rattle leads the London Symphony Orchestra in a performance of three emblematic works by the most-performed American composer in the world. The program features the intense rhythmic vitality and rich orchestral colors of "Frenzy" (2024), an energetic single-movement symphony. It also includes the Passion oratorio "The Gospel According to the Other Mary" (2012) and the minimalist masterpiece "Harmonielehre" (1985), which echoes the influences of Mahler, Sibelius, and Debussy.
