Concertgebouworkest & Iván Fischer Perform Beethoven's Ninth at Ziggo Dome Amsterdam
A homegrown classical night.
On Saturday the 3rd of October 2026, the Concertgebouworkest will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony at the Ziggo Dome under the baton of Iván Fischer. In the famous Finale, the audience is invited to join in. Two hundred years ago, Beethoven added a choir and four vocal soloists to convey his universal message of peace and equality, setting Friedrich Schiller’s ‘Ode to Joy’. It is no coincidence that the melody was chosen as the official anthem of the European Union. At the Ziggo Dome, the orchestra will be joined by soprano Eleanor Lyons, mezzo-soprano Olivia Vermeulen, tenor Michael Schade and bass Hanno Müller-Brachmann, the National Mixed Youth Choir and the audience itself. Before the interval, the inspiring conductor Iván Fischer, together with the Concertgebouworkest, will prepare the entire hall, so that after the break a choir of thousands will sing along in the famous Finale of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
