An uplifting, danceable soul night.
One of the UK’s most exciting funk and soul bands celebrates the music of Aretha Franklin and the Funky Divas of James Brown. Fronted by acclaimed London soul singer Lisa Grand, the electrifying 8-piece group Soul Pilgrims brings together real Hammond organ and a majestic horn section for a high-energy live experience. Expect timeless Aretha classics including ‘Respect’, ‘I Say a Little Prayer’, ‘Think’, and ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’, alongside iconic arrangements from her celebrated live album Aretha Live at the Fillmore West. Soul Pilgrims were formed by members of the Jezebel Sextet, who have been performing sold-out shows at Jazz Cafe for over 20 years.
