A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
15 Av. Montaigne, 75008 Paris, France
A journey to the banks of the Nile and the Holy Land through Handel's lens. Israel in Egypt holds a unique place in Handel's oeuvre, being one of his most daring oratorios for choral performance. Entirely based on sacred texts, the work illustrates the ten plagues of Egypt and Israel's return to the Promised Land. Unlike Bach's Passions or Mozart's operas, Handel rarely uses recitative here, instead placing the narrative weight almost entirely on the chorus.
