A nostalgic, raw baroque night.
In Invocazioni Mariane, Vivaldi’s poignant Stabat Mater takes center stage, framed by eighteenth-century Neapolitan music by Porpora, Vinci, and Anfossi, among others. Andreas Scholl and Accademia Bizantina share an artistic bond spanning more than twenty years, which is reflected in their refined interplay and expressive power. With his clear, supple voice, Scholl gives Mary a modest but intense character. A program in which the Italian Baroque reveals itself in its melodic richness and emotional depth.
