A nostalgic, slow-burn opera night.
Marlis Petersen and her regular duo partner Stephan Matthias Lademann present an exquisite sequence of songs and 'simple tunes', merging tradition and modernism in the German Lied around the turn of the 20th Century. Joined by horn player Ben Goldscheider, the German soprano brings her multihued tone and profound emotional intelligence to music of gentle beauty and grace, featuring works by Max Reger, Alban Berg, Arnold Schoenberg, Hans Sommer, Gustav Mahler, and Richard Strauss.
