Los Angeles Philharmonic: Schumann’s Third Symphony
A celebratory performance led by Paavo Järvi, featuring Robert Schumann’s Third Symphony, the “Rhenish,” a work inspired by the composer’s move to Düsseldorf and the majesty of the Cologne Cathedral. Violinist Vilde Frang performs Bartók’s darker second violin concerto, a rhapsodic masterpiece written during his final years in Hungary. The evening opens with "Wand’ring Bark" by contemporary Estonian composer Helena Tulve, whose work is inspired by natural patterns and organics.
