The Mountain Goats
A raw folk punk night.
The Mountain Goats are the prolific project of songwriter and novelist John Darnielle. Known for his literary character studies and impressionistic vignettes, Darnielle's work has evolved from lo-fi cassette recordings to more polished studio albums with a stable backing band featuring Peter Hughes, Matt Douglas, and Jon Wurster. Their recent records like Beat the Champ and Jenny from Thebes continue to showcase their tuneful and thematically unified indie rock style. Joining them is Craig Finn, the Minneapolis singer-songwriter and lead vocalist of The Hold Steady. Finn's solo work often completes thematic trilogies of narrative songwriting, focusing on gritty, realistic stories.
