The Sonic Pluriverse Festival presents Global Echoes of Gnawa, a night exploring the hypnotic intersections of Gnawa and Tarantella. The program features two major collaborations that bridge Mediterranean and Saharan traditions. Justin Adams and Mauro Durante, joined by Alessia Tondo, explore the trance-inducing rhythms of southern Italian Pizzica and North African music. Their work highlights the historical use of music as a ritual for healing and community solidarity. Majid Bekkas and Bassekou Kouyaté bring together the Moroccan Guembri and the Malian Ngoni. Both artists are innovators who have spent decades connecting Gnawa music to its sub-Saharan roots. The evening concludes with a DJ set at the Magnus Hirschfeld Bar.
