A nostalgic, underground chanson night.
Whether it’s chanson, Schlager, pop, or grand opera, in the end it’s always about the same thing: love. And yes, sometimes it hurts. Sometimes a lot. Even our modern, enlightened world hasn’t changed that. Die Schmitz is dedicated to precisely these timeless emotions with a charmingly sassy mix of German chansons and Schlager. The program features songs by Marlene Dietrich, Zarah Leander, and Hildegard Knef, as well as classics by Vicky Leandros, Milva, and other great voices from past decades. Alongside melancholic tunes, the show also explores the lighthearted, quirky, and comical side of love. It’s about life, failure, and moving on. Entertaining, tongue-in-cheek chansons, spiced with cheerful anecdotes and little jabs at the eternal conflict between the heart and the mind. DIE SCHMITZ and DER DURRA look forward to seeing you.
