An underground singer-songwriter artist.
Days of Grey is the moniker of singer and multi-instrumentalist Gerswin Reynolds. Gerswin has been a part of various musical endeavors since 2006, but Days of Grey differentiates itself from those projects by being a creative outlet for the singer. Embracing the ethos of artists such as Marilyn Manson, Bjork, and Prince, each release is meant to pursue a new sound and style. Gerswin released a self-titled debut album in May 2019. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Stabbing Westward, Depeche Mode, and Linkin Park, Days of Grey recalls the sound of industrial rock and Nu-metal with a modern flair. Following the release of a studio album. the singer released a trilogy of new singles that expanded his sound. "Only Happy When It Rains," a cover of the popular song by Garbage, was followed up by Aries, a track released with the Fluu, who's worked with artists such as Missy Elliot, Rihanna, Nine Inch Nails, and Britney Spears. "Die Alone" was written as a mournful dirge to a failed relationship. Gerswin was born in Belhar, South Africa, but raised in the United States, having emigrated with his family at age 7. "After moving, I feel like I never truly fit in; not many people knew where South Africa was and they all assumed I was from a tribe. Then I seemed to make the wrong friends and it was all over." He found solace in rock and metal music and used it as catharsis. Fifteen later, he continues to do so, with more fire and fury.
Days of Grey plays a blend of industrial rock and nu-metal, drawing inspiration from bands like Stabbing Westward and Linkin Park.
