Sven Wunder, the alias of Joel Danell, emerged in 2019 with his debut album Doğu Çiçekleri (Eastern Flowers), gaining global acclaim and collector's item status. Danell, an accomplished jazz musician and producer, created the persona to explore his passion for Anatolian and Eastern European music. His follow-up albums, including 2020's Wabi Sabi and 2021's Natura Morta, expanded his sound to incorporate Eastern and Southern Asian influences with cinematic grooves and larger instrumentation, earning high praise from critics and rapid sales. In 2023, his album Late Again continued his success, blending jazz, soul, and easy listening, and receiving a Swedish Grammy nomination. Additionally, he worked on Detroit rapper Danny Brown's album Quaranta, contributing the track "Hanami" based on Wabi Sabi's track of the same name. Sven Wunder's work has been featured by notable artists like Tyler, The Creator and sampled by CZARFACE, solidifying his status as a unique and influential composer.
