meticulous reconstruction of republican/neoliberal/evangelical think tanks constructing their destructive ideology peu a peu, letting the poisoned blood drip into society slowly over decades. many things are known if you have dealt with the topic before but 3 things I've learned through Schmitt's 16mm essay:1.) how the christians slowly but surely connected with the neoliberal logic, ignoring clear contradictions between the two ideologies2.) all the conservative judges of the supreme court are organized in those think tanks - what a creepy thought3.) how the ideology tries to shift the idea that "violence" is deferred from the core cell of family - where it classically is happening - to society/institutions/"the state", in order to prevent the paradisical state of family and attack the regulating structures from the government

Superior political essay with enough detail, personal and research, to give it force. As usual, Schmitt is very good at finding material and spatial ways to let her observations resonate and manage an extra room. The investigation here, based on its larger currency, is very immediate and a little more closed off than in her past work, but always engaging.

a ghastly, daring, and quite frank exploration that grows out of a dilemma endured since antiquity: how do we contend w the sins of our fathers? we’ve known them forever, we love them. in parts, we are indebted to the web theyve weaved, caught in its ideological threads and models for how to live. a damning entanglement. an augury that begins in the domestic - where else. both history n forecast: of the trappings of the property fueled / family oriented / isolationist american social regime and the blood money that propagates its ideological syndicates into every social n legal institution. we’re cooked! but theres still room to carve out an otherwise, to not risk repeating these sins - this perhaps also starts in the home, but grows outward. to weave a more expansive netwrk of care and community, to exist outside of ourselves. not to withdraw into to the protection of and isolation of the sacred nuclear family unit. schmitt provides a glimmer of hope - all we can do is our best, and thats not nothing.
