Live Processing Paint and Sound: Liz Phillips and Heidi Howard

Harvestworks and Roulette co-present a performance by interactive sound art pioneer Liz Phillips and painter Heidi Howard as part of Harvestworks’ 50th anniversary celebration. Phillips live-processes aquatic recordings using custom electronics, light sensors, and a theremin, transforming Howard’s brushstrokes and aquatic activity into an immersive soundscape. The program includes an introduction by Ivana Dama and a discussion with e-flux Performance Curator Sanna Almajedi. Phillips' work explores the intersection of technology and natural environments, while Howard’s practice focuses on portraiture and site-specific spatial installations.
