Thievery Corporation 30th Anniversary Tour at Markopoulou Park Chania

The Thievery Corporation, with their 30th Anniversary Tour, are coming on Monday 13 July to celebrate in Crete, in Chania at Markopoulou Park, in a truly summery and colorful evening featuring contemporary, electronic and rhythmic expressions of the global music scene. A grand celebration marking 30 years of Thievery Corporation since their beginnings, in what promises to be the ultimate concert event of the summer! The concert will be opened by the groups Los Tre and Gemma. The Thievery Corporation, the pioneering duo from Washington founded in 1995 by Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, have been one of the most consistent forces in contemporary electronica for three decades. Starting from their deep love for Brazilian music and inspired by the DIY philosophy of their city's punk scene, they created the right conditions early on to preserve their artistic independence intact for a full thirty years. With an inexhaustible reservoir of influences ranging from dub and reggae to jazz, bossa nova, hip hop and Middle Eastern music, Thievery Corporation not only evolved into one of the most successful names in their field, but also helped define the downtempo / trip hop scene with their innovative productions and outstanding songs. From the classic Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi (1996) to Mirror Conspiracy (2000), The Richest Man In Babylon (2002), The Cosmic Game (2005), featuring the Flaming Lips and David Byrne, as well as the more recent The Temple of I & I (2017) and Treasures From the Temple (2018), the duo has built one of the most enviable catalogs of their era. LOS TRE Los Tre are a trio with jazz funk compositions that combine sounds taking you on a journey around the world. Formed in 2012 in Athens, they draw influences from world music and their distinctive psychedelic sound. Drums blending afro, soul and funk vibes with jazz, deep bass that drives the rhythm and often adds striking bass lines, impressive guitar solos and improvisations revolving around psychedelic music and blues rock. GEMMA Gemma are a five-member band formed in 2017 in Rethymno, Crete. Their music is a journey across many places and timelines. Inspired by ancient pagan Cretan sounds and influenced by pioneers of electronic music, they create a unique futuristic show that blends post rock atmosphere, tribal rhythms, trance vibes and electropunk elements.
