Celebrated as the leader of the black avant-garde in Britain, Anthony Joseph is an award-winning Trinidadian poet, novelist and musician. His singular body of work fuses spoken word, jazz, Afrobeat, funk and the rhythms of the Caribbean. Winner of the 2022 T.S. Eliot Prize, Joseph has established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Black music and literature. Returning to Ronnie Scott's, he performs music from his acclaimed albums Rowing Up River To Get Our Names Back and The Ark. The latter continues his imaginative exploration of contemporary Black culture through the lens of Afrofuturism, pairing expansive jazz improvisation and soulful melodies with politically resonant spoken word poetry. Accompanied by a full band and special guests, expect an immersive evening of hypnotic rhythms and fearless improvisation.
