Eek-A-Mouse
Eek-A-Mouse, real name Ripton Hilton, is a truly unique artist you’ll never forget once you hear his voice. He broke through in 1979 with his first single “Once a Virgin” and immediately stood out thanks to his high-pitched nasal voice and playful “biddy beng-beng” vocal style. His music is fun, original, and full of strong melodies. While often labeled a DJ, his style is best described as a mix of singing and toasting – known as singjay. About Eek-A-Mouse In the 1980s and ’90s, he gained worldwide recognition with albums like Eek-A-Nomics and U-Neek. He scored hits such as “The Freak” and “You Are The One I Need,” and even released a reggae version of a Led Zeppelin song. Eek-A-Mouse also collaborated with other artists, including P.O.D. on their rock-reggae track “Ridiculous” and with ska-punk band OPM on the song “Perfect Day.” Beyond music, he appeared in films like the 1991 crime classic New Jack City, alongside Wesley Snipes and Chris Rock. Despite his bizarre, humorous, and original style, he has remained something of a cult figure. But live, he’s unforgettable – especially with riddim legends Mafia & Fluxy backing him. Expect classics like “Wa-Do-Dem” and “Virgin Girl” – a one-of-a-kind experience with a true musical legend.
