A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
I Fagiolini marks its 40th anniversary with a special performance of Monteverdi’s iconic 1610 Vespers. This concert serves as a launch event for the ensemble's new recording of the work, featuring baroque instruments like cornetts and sackbutts alongside baroque strings. The performance aims to strip the masterpiece back to its essentials, highlighting both its raw power and intimate emotional depth. Directed by Robert Hollingworth, the ensemble is joined by the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble and a lineup of distinguished Monteverdi singers. Part of the Memory Unwrapped series, this evening promises an enthralling live experience of one of the most significant works in the vocal repertoire.
