Eek-A-Mouse
Eek-A-Mouse, real name Ripton Hilton, is a unique artist whose voice you'll never forget. He broke through in 1979 with his first single, "Once a Virgin," and immediately stood out for his high, nasal voice and playful "biddy beng-beng" singing style. His music is cheerful, original, and full of strong melodies. Although he's considered a DJ, his style is better described as a mix of singing and talking: singjay. In the 1980s and 1990s, he rose to international fame with albums like Eek-A-Nomics and U-Neek. He scored hits like "The Freak" and "You Are The One I Need" and even released a reggae version of a Led Zeppelin song. Eek A Mouse also collaborated with other artists, such as P.O.D. on their rock-reggae track "Ridiculous" and with the ska-punk band OPM on the song "Perfect Day." Besides music, he also appeared in films, including the 1991 crime classic New Jack City , where he starred alongside Wesley Snipes and Chris Rock. Despite his bizarre, funny, and original style, he has always remained somewhat of a cult figure. But live, he's unforgettable, especially with riddim legends Mafia & Fluxy at his side. Expect classics like "Wa-Do-Dem" and "Virgin Girl" – a unique experience with a true musical legend.
