Ablaye Cissoko, a master of the West African kora, and French accordionist Cyrille Brotto come together for an intimate performance featuring their new album Djiyo. Cissoko, who descends from a long line of griots or storytellers, brings elegant arpeggios and vocals that blend seamlessly with the melancholic, Celtic-inflected tones of Brotto's accordion. Their music creates a connecting flow between the Mandingo tradition of West Africa and Southern French folk music.
