A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
1 Milton St, London EC2Y 9BH
Academy of Ancient Music revives the 17th-century musical world of King Charles I, featuring the innovative and ravishing works of William Lawes and his contemporaries. This performance explores an era of courtly dances and elegant conversation, capturing the transition from Renaissance instruments to the flamboyant violin during a period shadowed by civil war. The evening recreates a vanished age through music that is witty, elegant, and deeply moving. There will be a free pre-concert talk in the auditorium at 6:30pm.
