Fat Freddy’s Drop is a seven piece reggae band from Wellington, New Zealand known for an addictive and compelling style that combines dub, reggae, soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues. Originally formed as a jamming project in 1999, the group gained international recognition with their 2002 single ‘Midnight Marauders’. They have released multiple successful studio and live albums, including the award-winning ‘Based on a True Story’ and ‘Dr Boondigga and the Big BW’. The band is celebrated for their exceptional live performances, which often feature theatrics, dramatic lighting, and extended soulful solos.
