Die lautten compagney BERLIN fragt mit ihrem Kamerun-Projekt nach den Möglichkeiten einer Musik jenseits des kolonialen Kanons. Dabei stehen zwei musikalische Traditionslinien im Mittelpunkt: Die reiche Musiktradition des Balafon, ein Idiophon, das im westafrikanischen Raum bereits seit dem 13. Jahrhundert gespielt wird, trifft auf Musik von Johann Sebastian Bach. Der in Kamerun geborene Percussionist Ba Banga Nyeck hat ein neues chromatisches Balafon entwickelt, um Bachs Musik auf dem Instrument spielen zu können. Solche Klang-Experimente fusionieren hypnotische Patterns mit kontrapunktischen Fugen. Auf visueller Ebene wird der kamerunische Künstler Tanka Fonta das Projekt mit einer seiner mythopoetischen Bilderzählungen begleiten.
