The James Taylor Quartet have set the standard for funky acid jazz and are largely responsible for the resurgence of the Hammond B3 in popular music. Known for their high-energy live performances, the band delivers accessible rhythm-driven sets featuring plenty of improvised solos. Formed after the release of their 1987 debut single 'Blow-Up', the group quickly established a strong reputation. Their early work, including the album 'Mission Impossible', focused on rough, up-tempo covers of 1960s film themes, while later projects like 'The Money Spyder' showcased James Taylor's original compositions in a distinctive spy-film style.
