Nik. Plastira 26, Iraklio 712 01, Greece
AKRA Festival is a two-day event in Heraklion dedicated to musical improvisation and contemporary experimental music. Taking place at the Manos Hatzidakis Garden Theater, the festival features six performances exploring the creative space between beginnings and endings. The lineup includes Brussels-based sound artist Pak Yan Lau, the free jazz trio of Aquiles Navarro, Manos Barkatsas, and Aleksandar Skoric, and a mandolin-electronics fusion by Michalis Kontaxakis and Giorgos Klados. The second night features the influential Cretan musician Giorgos Xylouris (Psarogiorgis) with Markos Pinakoulakis, the rhythmic "free funk" of the trio Miracle, and the Athens-based electronic-acoustic project TROT. The festival aims to become a permanent platform for sound experimentation and cross-cultural artistic exchange in Crete, fostering dialogue between the local and international avant-garde scenes.
