Kosmos Culinair | Warming Up Festival
This unique event combines a concert with a five-course dinner. At its heart is Kosmos, composed by violinist and “climate composer” Tim Kliphuis, who draws inspiration from nature and his concerns about climate change. For the piece, Kliphuis collaborated with five leading scientists, including philosopher Bernice Bovenkerk, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Wageningen University & Research. Her expertise spans animal ethics and environmental philosophy. How can we awaken people to the state of our planet? How can we nurture empathy for animals to live alongside them more harmoniously? Grappling with these questions, Kliphuis sought to turn his climate worries into art. Before composing Kosmos, he interviewed five top scientists about the climate crisis and then translated their insights into music. For Kliphuis, music can tell a story in ways science alone cannot—it resonates not only with the intellect but also with the heart.
